Should you clean your outside Air conditioning unit?

Its central unit air conditioner (AC) has two types of coils. Evaporator coils absorb heat and moisture from the air. Condenser coils expel hot air out of your home. Both coils must be clean to maximize efficiency. It’s a good idea to clean the condenser coils, if you have a maintenance plan for air conditioning, but proceed with great care and caution. If you feel comfortable doing this, not for yourself, we at Absolute Aircon Cleaning Brisbane are here to help.

Ways you can Clean Aircon Condenser Coils

How often should you clean your outside Air con unit?

For your air conditioning to work efficiently, you must be able to transfer heat from inside your house to the outside effectively. A coating of dirt, dust and other debris in Air con coils can prevent this by isolating the coils of the surrounding air and reducing the efficiency of the heat transfer process. To reduce to the minimum energy consumption and reduce utility costs, the coils Air con should be cleaned at least once a year.

The Importance of Clean Air Conditioning Coils

It is estimated that dirty evaporator and condenser coils can increase energy consumption of your air conditioning system of over 30 percent. In addition, reduced efficiency of heat transfer can cause other problems such as the poor performance of cooling the evaporator coils and compressor frozen overheating.

How to Prevent Dirty Coils?

To keep the coils clean of evaporator, it is important to check the air filter at least once a month and replace it if necessary. An air may allow the dust-clogged filter and debris accumulating on the evaporator instead of the air filter, and it can also reduce the air flow in the system, which leads to other problems. To keep the coils clean, keep an area two feet around the condensing unit clean of vegetation and debris including garbage, grass, plants and overhanging trees or bushes. Remove large debris as it falls in the condenser coils, and when mowing, be sure to discharge clippings out of the condenser.

Cleaning the coils

The fins on the evaporator coils and condenser are extremely delicate and can be bent with little force. It is best to leave most of the clean air to a contractor who will clean the coils during a routine maintenance visit. Ideally, air conditioning maintenance should be performed twice a year, but once is enough for some systems. Between visits, the coils of the condenser can be cleaned by removing large debris and rinse the coils with a hose, after turning off the power. The evaporator is often difficult to access, and should be professionally cleaned.
