What does it mean when your AC blows out hot air?

The thermostat is set incorrectly. It may sound silly, but we’ve seen it happen before. Check the thermostat and make sure it is not set to “heat”. It may have been hit by someone else at home.

Also, check to see if you have the setting of the thermostat to “auto” or “on”. If set to “on”, that means that the fan will blow even when the air conditioner is not really cold. This makes your air conditioner blow hot air out vents when the outdoor unit is not running.

There is a restriction on air flow. A restriction in airflow to and from the air conditioner often results in insufficient air exiting the vents to cool your home. Restricted air flow can also cause the compressor (the part that moves the refrigerant) in an apparatus out of your air conditioner to freeze. If those don’t work, we at Absolute Aircon Cleaning Brisbane will help you clean your AC. It may have other issues that require professionals to handle you Air con problems.

This is common because of one or more of the following:

  • The air filter has not been replaced in a long time
  • You have not had maintenance performed on your AC this year (so the coils are dirty)
  • The outdoor unit is not receiving electricity
  • Your air conditioning system consists of two main components – an outdoor unit and an indoor unit. The houses of the indoor unit of the fan blow air through your home, but long story short, that can only blow cool air if the outdoor unit is operating.

So if the air is blowing out of the outlets, but not cold, it could be that the circuit breaker is tripped or the fuse has blown in the electrical circuit that supplies power to the outdoor unit.

Check your circuit breaker or fuse panel to make sure the circuit is supplying electricity to the outdoor air conditioning unit.

Note: If the circuit breaker has tripped or fuse with the CA, you should call a professional immediately as there might be a major problem.

Most likely, if you are having problems with your air conditioner blowing hot air or warm, it is a problem with a compressor / air conditioning unit outdoors or you are low on refrigerant. You may also have a back channel that is broken or interrupted and pulled in from the outside or air conditioned attic space. However, both of these problems require the help of a professional.

Does the air conditioner ventilate a room?

Your aircon cleaning  can help keep a ventilated room as well. Air conditioners remove heat from the air and the air circulates permanently in the house. This continuous exchange of air gets rid of stale air and smoke, replacing it with cleaner air. Periodically replacing the filter in the air conditioner can reduce allergens and odors and maintaining the air conditioning assembly at a relatively high temperature can reduce cooling costs while still maintaining its ventilated room.

Turn on Those Fans on your Air Conditioner

The fact that the air conditioning does not mean that you should not turn on the ceiling fan running. Ceiling fans air circulation and healthy early movement pushing away from the stale air and smoke, so you should have a fan running whenever you’re in the room.

As a bonus, running your ceiling fan creates a wind chill effect on the skin, causing you to feel colder than room temperature. This effect allows you to reduce the use of CA, promoting energy efficiency.

What does the fan mode do on an air conditioner?

The fan of the Air condition unit connects to your indoor air handler. The fan will return the warm air in your home to the condenser. The recirculated air will return to the air handler, where it is converted to fresh air and scattered across your ductwork and vents in your home. Although this does not work the same way as a traditional fan, you can use it to help circulate the air in your home. However, It won’t provide fresh air.
